a story about a man separated from his group of travellers, lost in the amazon rainforest. he comes across a small settlement inhabited by people of a completely different mindset and way of living. they take him in and show him how to look at the world in an alternative way, which evokes an incredible revelation in him. he then goes off into the wilderness alone in search of his comrades, and everything is completely different to how he first perceived. this is extremely overwhelming and euphoric. he eventually finds himself at the top of a gigantic tree that stands tall as the sky, right at the crest of a majestic waterfall. as his journey peaks, he jumps from the tree into the water below. as he surfaces for air, things seem normal again. as is if it had never happened, but he knows something in him has changed. his companions are waiting at the bank of the river for him. he rejoins the group. as they head for basecamp, he realises there is no way that he will ever be able to express what he experienced that day. his journey is his own, and always will be.

aber wozu auch?! passen das kreisen um sex, lust und obsessionen doch hervorragend zu ihrem brillanten gemisch aus industrial , techno, bigbeat und pop. sängerin jade 4u gibt die vokalsichere schlampe, während der rest der band spielsicher für zuweilen ironisierte härte sorgt.
alles, bloß keine langeweile verbreiten, scheint das motto gewesen zu sein. und so jagt ein grandioses musikstück das nächste, verwöhnt den hörer ein ums andere mal mit phantastischen refrains und bleibt dabei immer dicht am industrialisierten dancefloor.

we were very happy to be asked by connaisseur recordings if they could put out another album with our music! now it s all come together and they ve asked us to do our own press release for it and quite like the album, we want to do it in our own way, personal and from the heart. it s been a few years since our last connaisseur album, and a lot has happened since. we ve built a new studio, matured musically, acquired new gear, sold old gear, done a lot of gigs, lost faith in music and regained it again. the process of making the loneliest man in space (this album) was a genuinely pleasant experience, as we never really set out to make an album at all. we didn t conceptualize or have any grandiose plans, we simply enjoyed ourselves in the studio. inspiration was running high, so we focused on making a lot of music uninterrupted, rather than signing tracks, which left us with quite a bulk of unsigned material. the idea to release these tracks as an album came from our friend alex, at connaisseur. we instantly jumped on the idea, listened through the material, taking some tracks out and composing a few new ones, to make it sit more together as a whole. we tried to come up with a title that would ft the feeling of the sum of tracks and settled on the loneliest man in space. as the album, to our ears, sounds a little melancholic and a little spacey. we sincerely hope that you enjoy the album either as a listening experience, a dance experience or something in between!

fresh from live performances at bonobo’s outlier festival, the quietus stage at the great escape, and supporting max cooper, london-based production virtuoso guy andrews revisits his acclaimed debut album ‘our spaces’. informed by audience reactions at these shows, he takes two of the lp’s standout tracks and reconfigures them for the dancefloor, with devastating results. meanwhile two like-minded artists tackle the album’s lead single ‘in autumn arms’. max cooper crafts a formidable collage of idm textures, with staccato beats punctuating the lilting guitar riff, whilst dj mag’s former ‘best breakthrough producer’ ben pearce takes the track into the main room, turning in an elemental 4/4 floor-burner.

the *belly of the beast ep* consists of four raw cuts coming from machines for the main room, with dramatic chords, obsessive sequences and recordings from *the san fermines*. gal aner (guitar) and chris gray (voice), join them in the track *human show*, fusing electronics with pure emotion.

jack cutter is a songwriter and guitarist based in the san francisco bay area in california. he started with a $5 banjo just after finishing high school. in university, during the late 60’s, he performed with bar bands in buffalo, new york. after completing university and a year as an aerospace engineer, he decided that attack helicopters were not really what the world needed and so he headed off to california in pursuit of music and mystic times. fast forward to fall 2014: jack is playing his quintessential tune, ‘gift of our fathers’ in the sf bart subway to an onslaught of morning commuters when he was spotted by 40 thieves. eureka! love at first sight and in the next few months, two of jack’s original acoustic pieces were given the 40 thieves treatment. enter david sanderson aka david harks, a singer, songwriter, producer and label curator from the east sussex region of the uk. ‘having fallen in love with the cosmic boogie (of 40 thieves classic ‘backward love’) i really felt i would love nothing more than to write a tune with them. layne got back in touch with a track he was working on entitled serpent strut with jack cutter and we worked via email over a few months to brew up that misty soul.’ deep, stony, psychedelic, drawing from the well of hawkwind, joni mitchell, david crosby, baffo banfi and tolkien-tinged acoustic led zep, the proof of concept is now complete and in the capable and loving hands of claremont 56.

since the turn of the decade token has by and large been an exclusive platform for the music of inigo kennedy, ¥ phase and ctrls. the belgian label has, however, remained on point by putting out formidable productions by rich oddie & ancient methods eschaton project, german powerhouse r¢dhåd and spanish heavy weights oscar mulero and christian wünsch as spherical coordinates, to some intercontinental fare by xhin and go hiyama. token, an iron clad operation continuously manufacturing unyielding techno, has always, deep within its impenetrable shell, had a soft spot for british techno. and following a reissue of mark brooms two, maintaining the glacial release rate of rodz-konez legend makaton, and welcoming surgeon to its fold with the thunderous fixed action pattern 12inch, the belgian label seeks out some fresh uk blood by inviting james shaw, aka sigha, to debut on the label with a stylistically sleek and suitably booming 12inch, our father / a better way of living.

nicole moudaber is a name we are used to hearing on the radar as a drumcode artist and she is showing us what she can do on the funkier side of the spectrum with her new ep now landing on truesoul. both tracks merge her signature techno sound into something that still contains stacks of class and character. the evolving sounds in both tracks build tension and energy to create after hour burners.
